Lulu De Kwiatkowski was featured in Hamptons Magazine this weekend featuring a bold and beautiful outfit by Alvin Valley. The article, written by R. Couri Hay, highlighted De Kwiatkowski’s new “jewelry” line inspired by the Hamptons.
Tired of clingy jewelry on the beach? Her recent line of gold and silvery jewelry tattoos will solve all your beach jewelry woes. Lasting six days, you can have your very own Hamptons inspired jewelry tattoo done at Alice + Olivia in East Hampton. Sporting the Color Block Blouse and the Pleated Crop pant, De Kwiatkowski shines in her article photographed by Melissa Valladares. She draws from the Hamptons for her art and textile designs.
“Nature is by far one of my strongest sources of inspiration. Flowers, grass leaves – I’m always captivated by that as well as the sunsets that the Hamptons has, particularly during the summer.” – Lulu De Kwiatkowski
Lulu is definitely one of my most inspiring clients, and I feel very fortunate to be able to still work with her. She is the perfect representation of the woman I design for. And, what a journey we have shared. We met through our mutual friend Emilia Fanjul. However, I already knew she wore my pants. I had seen some society pictures in W magazine of her wearing my leather waisted pants, and so we immediately connected. Then, when she was planning her very beautiful wedding, she called me and asked if we could meet to talk about her wedding gown. Our meeting was top secret, and she gave me very specific ideas as to how she wanted to look on her very special day. Unfortunately, we could not find the perfect lace, so we ended up buying three different kinds of lace, cutting it up and appliqueing it back on tulle. It was a laborious process, but it turned out beautifully…so beautifully that WWD asked for sketches of the dress. The day of the wedding in Lyford Key, I helped Lulu get dressed. I walked into the church right before she did. As she walked down the aisle, there was a huge gasp. It was the only thing I needed to hear to know that I had done my job successfully. When I design, it is never my intention for the clothes to get noticed…the woman wearing them should get all of the attention. Here’s to the perfect model, Lulu. Alvin Valley and De Kwiatkowski certianly have this “Out-East” inspiration in common. Looking back at our Spring 2014 Lookbook, the Spring line and photoshoot was all based on Alvin’s Hamptons inspiration.
“I love the tranquil savagery of the ocean.” – Alvin Valley
